Norm,
    I am successfully using Miro v2.5.3 and MiroBridge v4.9 with VDPAU 
v190.40 and as of today v190.42 with no issues at all (Ubuntu 9.04). I 
would suspect you VDPAU driver installation over a conclusion that Miro 
has issues with VDPAU.
