My assumption is I can hook up a DVI to HDMI cable and everything should work, and that VGA is reaching end of life (so I didn't want to spend an extra $300 on the G10). I am about to invest in a computer upgrade.

The difference between HDMI and DVI is DVI does not carry audio,
otherwise they are pin compatable.

I have HDMI on my motherboard, and it works like a champ. I didnt have
to do anything to get video out to work. I plugged it in and boot the
computer and the bios stuff show'd right up on the tv. sweet.

The only little problem I had was getting alsa sound support with my
(ever so slightly) old kernel. I had to upgrade to an rc kernel to get
it to recognize (which I'm not running anymore by the way, I'v upgraded
my kernel since then). alsa sees the HDMI audio just like any other
audio device, and in myth I set the audio to "alsa:hdmi" and it just works.

"X -configure" saw it and generated a usable xorg.conf file (the only
thing I added was an nvidia dpi 100x100 line, other than that I didnt
touch it).
