This happens when Myth gets absolutely no data (and no errors) from the 
capture card/drivers.

That may have some bearing on it.  Different cards have different 
preferences for open on demand and active/passive EIT and possibly some 
of the other settings.  Trial and error are your friends.  But, short of 
something like that, it's almost definitely a problem with the capture 
card/drivers.
