... no sign of a patch going into 2.6.31 or something.

I should be able to patch 2.6.31 as well, correct?

A diff between isl6421.c in 2.6.30 and 2.6.31 (gentoo-sources) shows
nothing, so that file shouldn't have changed, I will now try a patched
2.6.31 ...

Just to "touch a running machine" ....
