Which makes me think that maybe the ITV HD patch could be extended  
into a framework for fixing up the stupid things that broadcasters and  
sometimes encoder/muxer manufacturers do.

I see now how trivial the patch is but looking through that code I see  
potential for some interesting fixups.

I often wish I could find a way to bang the PS3 media player  
developers heads together, some quite small changes would make a big  
difference to the product! Alternatively a DVB-S2 version of PlayTV  
sold across Europe would cause most irritations to get fixed :-) An  
American friend with MythTV ATSC HD and a PS3 tells me everything he  
records plays fine for him.
