DVI and HDMI are both connector types and transmission methods.
Strictly speaking, DVI (the transmission method) can't carry audio.
HD (the transmission method) can.  When it comes to the connections,
however, it doesn't matter.  You can go DVI->HDMI with audio, but in
that case the signal itself will always be HDMI.  You could
technically even go DVI->DVI with audio, but the modulation would
still be HDMI.
