I have been seeing my slave BE mythbackend process disappear. The master
BE is running Mythbuntu 8.10 with Jean-Yves VDPAU builds. The salve BE
is Ubuntu 8.10 and doubles as my desktop PC. I have the slave system
running with "-v most". Here is the last few entries in the log file:
$ tail /home/james/mythbackend.log_crash

The /var/lib/mythtv/recordings directory is NFS mounted from the MBE. It
is also the only directory in the MBE storage group. It is not in the
SBE storage group, but it is mounted so the FE can see the recording files.
This afternoon when I looked, both system have uptimes of more than two
weeks, so it is not an issue of mythbackend not coming up on a restart.
I have no idea what could be causing the backend process to stop.
Any ideas on where I can look next?
Thanks,
James
