I don't find the nVidia splashscreem to be annoying, I find it helpful as a 
confirmation that the nVidia drivers are in use and have loaded properly.

Of course a reboot for me is a 2 or 3 times a year event.

There is an option for your xorg.conf file that will disable the splash, if 
you find it annoying.
