There are apparently "jeeped" satellite receivers available that will output
the data stream via firewire, but they violate the TOS with the satellite
provider.
This is "hearsay", but I heard it from one of the DISH engineers, who was
complaining that even he was not allowed to obtain one of these receivers for
experimental use.
I'd be careful about ordering one of these receivers, you would have no
recourse if the seller sent you nothing, and if the seller got busted they
might well turn over the customer ist to the authorities.
So it's probably more correct to simply say that no sice devices are
available.
The only way to record HD from a satellite receiver today is the Hauppauge
HD-PVR-1212, the support for which is still classed as experimental, though
some folks seem to be having good results.
