Thanks for your help.

I dragged out the old satellite reciever, this confirmed it was not a signal
problem.
I then removed the updated NVidia drivers that I installed yesterday. I also
turned up the fan speeds on the system (GPU was reading 60 degrees, now
reads 59, so that really worked). I went back 1 installed kernel version,
and removed the v4l-dvb drivers from changeset 10397, going back to
video4linux-kmdl-2.6.27.9-159.fc10 from atrpms (I am pretty sure that I had
tested the svn-compiled version with BBC HD). During this the system was
obviously rebooted several times.

So I cannot be sure what was the problem. Most sensible would be the
drivers, but they had worked for a quick test.

In summary, currently the card Hauppauge - NOVA-HD-S2 is working on a fedora
10 system, kernel package: kernel-2.6.27.9-159.fc10.x86_64 and
video4linux-kmdl-2.6.27.9-159.fc10-20090116-88.0.3.fc10.x86_64

Thanks for your time,
Gareth
