I did the same thing when I was shopping for a HTPC case and I evently
settled on the Silverstone LC16M

it wasn't till I received it that I found I had a new revision which used
a different usbid, as you can see from the wiki rather then complain about
it I've been documenting the process to get it working and its eventual
inclusion into lirc hopefully very soon.

Sure this is a very rare occurrence but I hope to think my updates have
helped others make informed buying decisions.

Maybe some sort of incremental counter on each hardware wiki page so you
can get a gage on how many people have each piece of hardware would help
people out?
