Despite the abrasive tone, I'll give you one piece of advice that will
help you immensely.
Nothing in MythTV's setup is stored in any normal *nix'ish file
anywhere. All settings are in MySQL tables, and you should only ever
access them through mythtvsetup (or mythweb, but get the basics working
first before opening that can of worms). There are many, many sources
of documentation on how to configure your MythTV backend (with
mythtvsetup) and then frontend (directly in mythfrontend), and I'll
leave it to you to google them. But once you get past looking for
things like .mythtvsetup in /etc/mythtv (which doesn't exist so don't
bother looking for it) and start using the tools provided, your install
will go a lot easier.
