[mythtv-users] Analog audio cuts out in X on new system

I'm trying to finish up the build of a new frontend and have run into
a problem that has me stumped. This is with a Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H
motherboard and a stock v2.6.27.10 Linux kernel.

I will eventually use digital audio over the HDMI or S/PDIF ports, but
need to use 2-channel, analog audio for the near term. The problem is
the analog audio only works when I'm switched to a text console. For
example, if I start playing a recorded program in mythfrontend, I
can't hear any audio. If I then switch to a text console, I can hear
the audio. If I switch back to X, the audio goes away again.
Likewise, if I start playing an mp3 using mplayer on a text console, I
get audio until I switch to X.

Does anyone know what might be going on? I've run out of things to
try and haven't been able to find any similar problem searching with
Google.
