There is also the option of something like the i-ram (Ram bank plus
backup battery connected via SATA) for the volatile timeshifting and
large SSD for recordings. If you decide in the middle of a show that
you'd rather record it then it can be dumped to disk.
This could probably be done now using storage groups - 'live' on the
ram disk, 'recordings' on the ssd or hdd
With the write cycle counts of current SSDs then even recording daily
shows should be ok.
