I noticed that my machine was running fine one minute, and I could ssh
in etc, though it had been left for a while (>4hours and therefore had
been blanked) and the TV had been turned off.

As I say, I could ping the machine but as soon as I turned on the TV
and pressed the remote to unblank the screen, the machine would
lockup.

I clean installed mythbuntu 8.04 on my machines (instead of the
upgraded from 7.10 version) and everything is fine now.
