That's an old issue with nvidia drivers (they fix some game related
parameter, then there's a regression in xvmc, or vice versa), but
there are also times when the drivers nicely converge to version that
make everyone happy. One needs to test differnt drivers to see which
suit one's needs best. And sometimes one is in a dilemma with oneself:
Playing a game needs driver X, mythtv needs driver Y.

That's why ATrpms offers parallel installable nvidia drivers with a
switch utility. You still need to exit X11, but other than that the
switch is rather easy.
