Brent,
When any Jamu options include -M then Jamu will only use the
backend's MythDB directory settings. The jamu.conf directories are
ignored. So if your BE has its directories properly set and accessible
there should not be any directory related errors.

Jamu only runs on a backend machine as it needs direct access to the
video and image directories.

People are not always aware that all directory settings in the
MythDB are per hostname. This means that if you are NOT using storage
groups Jamu looks for frontend video and graphics directories associated
with your backend's hostname. If you are not using storage groups and
set a separate frontend's directory settings it means nothing to Jamu as
the hostname will be different than the separate backend.

If this is the reason that Jamu is not finding video and/or graphics
directories then you need to add the directories to your backend
preferable by running a FE on the BE (just for adding the directory
settings) or by adding the records to the MythDB directly. Of course if
you pick the direct to DB method please backup your database first. If
you can possible avoid to not use the direct to db method. A FE takes
very little disk space.
