For US (and Canadian) myth users, The Blog of the Legal Times (*BLT*)
reports on a scrap between cable channel progam providers and the FCC
regarding carriage rules.... which impact what *we* receive over cable.

http://legaltimes.typepad.com/blt/2008/09/cable-programme.html

"... Cable operators must either go all-digital or provide the digital
and analog version of the same channel to ensure that 40 million
analog-service subscribers still have access to so-called must-carry
stations. Carrying two versions of the same channel takes up valuable
space, the petitioners say, and could force some carriers to dump
programmers or to restrict the ability of programmers to expand
services......"

No answers provided, but I think the writing is on the wall. Unless the
FCC mandates dual carriage, the cablecos will move to digital *and
encrypted* only.... and all for an increased monthly fee of $????

As Glenn Reynolds says: RTWT.
Then write the FCC. At least it seems to listen to the taxpayer, unlike
the CRTC.
