I am in the same situation (TWC San Diego). In my case I'm using an hdhomerun. I think there is some channel data missing in the qam scan which myth seems to rely on. I can view KSND (1707) and XETV (1706) fine in vlc but not in myth. I also tried entering the data manually in the channel and dtv_multiplex tables.

Both channels are on frequency 627000000. This is the output from hdhomerun_config scan:

PROGRAM: 1253: 0.0

In contrast, the output for freq 525000000 shows the proper callsigns and channel numbers for V-me (1311), KSWB-HD (1705) and KPBS-HD (1711). These channels are viewable in both myth and vlc:
