     Video takes up quite a lot of space. This is aggravated by a number
of factors involving the practices of broadcasters and cable providers.
The key thing with any recording system is actually getting to watch what
you record. Multiple conflicting interests driven by multiple conflicting
people make the problem even more interesting.

      500G is not likely to cut it. Until relatively recently, having
2.5TB of storage space wasn't necessarily a viable option either.

      My churn in a month would represent 2.5TB or more.

      Being an old Tivo user, the transcoding doesn't bother me so much.
OTOH, even back then I didn't have a device with only double digit recording
time.
