Just take the plastic panel usually covering the bay, drill a hole, and
hot glue your LED/photodiode in place. Note that the blasters (LEDs)
really need a line-of-sight to be able to function well. You need a
pretty powerful light and a properly shaped room to be able to reflect
it off a wall.
