I have made progress.
I am getting analog signals. I am not sure what I did differant but I
will write down all my settings in case I screw it up.
My "card type" setting is MPEG-2. And I have a question about this...
When I do setup from scratch, meaning no tuner cards are configured, and
I choose MPEG-2 my Hauppauge 1600 card does not show up as "probed
info". I can then choose V4L and my Hauppauge card IS shown as probed
info. I then click "finish". Now I can go back to the capture card setup
page and change the V4L to MPEG-2 and my Hauppauge card continues to be
shown as "probed info".
Is this difficulty in getting Hauppauge 1600 to show up for MPEG-2 an
indication of some kind of problem or is there a reason for this. (I
hope this isn't unnessessarily confusing).
Now, back to my current situation.
My channels are quite fuzzy compared to what my tv shows, although
channel 25, one of the best available does come through very clear. But
most of the others are very fuzzy compared to what they should be.
I still have made no progress with digital channels.
I set up using DVB as "card type". When I scan for channels, the list of
channels that have been scanned shows that channels HAVE been detected.
But the signal strength bar never shows anything, and sure enough, no
channels display.
I currently have my antenna cable split into to lines. One is connected
to my analog side of the card and the other to the digital side. Is this
proper or is it recommended that I use only one or the other at a time?
Do you have any ideas on why I have a fuzzy analog signal and why I have
no digital signal?
Thank you all for your help and advice.
