Also, backup, upgrade, fail, restore, revert works.  Though that takes 
more of your time, it takes significantly less time than creating a 
sure-fire test of whether an upgrade will fail***.  Besides, there are 
always ways to fix a failed upgrade--it's just a matter of how much time 
you're willing to spend fixing broken data.

***And, really, the best test of whether it will fail on your particular 
configuration with your particular data is to execute all the database 
upgrade steps exactly as they will be performed by Myth--after which 
you've either upgraded your database or corrupted it (meaning you'd 
either run the upgraded version of Myth or restore your old database, 
anyway).
