I received one of these drives from Newegg about 2 weeks ago.  It came
encased in a cocoon of thick bubblewrap, held together by lots of packing
tape.  I certainly didn't have any concerns about packing methods when mine
arrived.  I've been using the drive since I got it, no problems thus far
