To see if it was the PVR-500, I replaced it with my PVR-350.  No luck.  
Still observing the audio glitches.  I think I'll go one step further 
and eliminate MythTV by doing a cat /dev/video0 and capture a bunch of 
video that way to see if the issue occurs.  If so, for sure it's the 
firmware or the system itself.  If not, time to see what the Myth layer 
does.
