Again, old driver and firmware.

You have to upgrade them both.

It works fine. There was just a "glitch" in the USB2 code of 2.6.24
kernels that made it difficult for a while, but it has been fixed. Make
sure you get a recent kernel if you are running 2.6.24.

Support for DVB stuff should be checked on the appropriate web site.

Run a better distro, or do not break your installation beyond states
that allow proper upgrades.
