[mythtv-users] lenovo z60m - non-functional infrared port after suspend

Anybody got experience with notebook Lenovo Z60m and MythTV?

(It is a hardware related post for a linux system - sorry if off-topic.)

Generally, it works fine for a standalone frontend/backend with
AverMedia DVB-T usb tuner and Meliconi IR remote, only the following
issues remain open:

x RTC bios alarm - use of /proc/acpi/alarm works only for hibernation
(to HDD) or suspend (to RAM). When normally shut-down, the computer does
not wake up on a given time (I tried also the workarounds for hwclock.sh
mentioned in wiki). I think it is because BIOS does not support it,
since it behaves the same way also with the scheduler in Win XP. Not a
real problem, since suspend is faster anyway.

x InfraRed port does not work after hibernation/suspend. I also tried to
manually stop lirc daemon, rmmod the lirc_sir and lirc_dev modules,
suspend, wake up, modprobe modules and start lirc. While dmesg reads
that modules have been installed, it does not work. (No key presses
visible with irw or mode2.)

To workaround the above two issues, I use automatic suspend to RAM in
case BE is idle. After resume (either by a user or the RTC alarm) I let
the notebook restart by one of the resume scripts. It takes about one
and half minute to get it up an ready, but things work fine then.

P.S. Ubuntu 8.04 testing.
P.S.s I started using MythTV with DVB-T tuner a month ago and feel very
happy it exists!

Thanks for possible hints re. the infra-red port issue. I can provide
detailed listings and logs, if anybody interested.
