So, what does running:

set | grep '^\(DISPLAY\|X\)'

in a local terminal give?  Does the DISPLAY in your script look right?  
(Though it won't apply to running the script locally,) Is the XAUTHORITY 
pointing to the default location ( ${HOME}/.Xauthority )?  If not fix 
them in your script.
