It's a stab in the dark, but I had a number of audio problems with
Mythbuntu 8.04 that were remedied by changing the default audio
handler from PulseAudio to ALSA.

Can't recall exactly where that was (in the Setup, no doubt), but I
can check it later, if it would help.
