Booting from flash vs HDD has no effect on the operation of wireless
networking. You'd setup your wireless network exactly the same on your
flash drive as you would if you were using a HDD.
If you were trying to run a true diskless workstation and boot across the
network, that would be completely different story.
You might want to consider using MiniMyth since it's designed to boot from
a flash drive, though they recommend using Compact Flash cards instead of
USB flash because the USB boot can be very slow.
And I'm pretty sure that MiniMyth includes WPA
