What I actually do is that I run X server on a Linux vserver host and
everything else (starting with gdm connected to the X server through
XDMCP) in a vserver guest. I.e. my X session is separated into a
virtual machine running on the same hardware as the X server. Many
video applications (e.g. vlc, xine, kino, gopchop) run fine for me with
this setup.

If mythfrontend internal viewer can't run this way, is it possible to
tell mythfrontend to use an external viewer for watching live TV,
recorded shows, etc.? Of course, I would miss some features like PIP
etc. but this is not a problem.

Thanks for help,
