no if you look at the pins that are used by computers you will notice
only 4 of the 8 wires are used.  the splitters just take the 4 unused
ones and put them on a second jack where our networking devices expect
to communicate.  (thats why u need one on each side.)

Like i said, the only time the spare 4 wires are used in tcp/ip
networking only if using power over Ethernet.  that uses 2 wires to
said 48v DC voltage.  From a usage point of view you wont even know
its there.  just makes it a little more complicated when
troubleshooting.
