Okay - figured most of this out - I blew away the custom .config file
and just did a 'make install'. I also needed to remove the ATRPMS
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.18-92.1.18.el5 rpm. And for good measure I created a new
initrd file.

So now the box boots successfully. But when I do 'modprobe hdpvr' I get
the following in dmesg:

> hdpvr: ERROR device_authorization: unknown firmware version 0xf

And yes - I did load the driver with a Windows box first. (Sort of - I
used a Windows XP instance within VMware 2.0 - it told me that it
worked...)

Anyone seen this error?
