[mythtv-users] TV signal not acquired

Hi everybody,
I just got Mythtv working on my ubuntu Hardy. I use an external
Hauppauge PVR USB2 card. I was able to acquire the composite and s-video
signal (tested fine with the output of my handycam). I now would like to
watch our cable tv (I live in Turkey). The only scan I could do without
making the mythv-setup crash was with the europe-west frequency table
but that did found no signal at all.
I had done the same test on windows with the software came with the
Hauppauge card. After the scan, all I could get was only 2 or 3
channels, all of them terribly snowy and with no sound. That was
surprising as I am able to watch those cable TV channels on every TV I
have at home.
After a short research on the Hauppauge UK website, I came across to a
FAQ (i guess) that recommended the use of signal amplifier. I then
purchased the amplifier (see attached photo). With the amplifier
attached, there is absolutely no signal in windows (it got worse!) and
still no signal on mythtv...
I am at loss here... anybody on the list having an idea on how to make
the cable TV work?
thanks from advance
Servet
