Yan,

I don't use any daemons myself, but just have the powernow-k8.ko module 
loaded, and it works fine on my 1st gen Athlon64 3400+ using the 
ondemand governor (via cpufrequtils). cpufreq-info to display current 
governor and speed, cpufreq-set -g ondemand to set the ondemand governor.
