[mythtv-users] pcHDTV-5500 reception versus WinTV-HVR-1800?

Based on the discussion in [1], I think the pcHDTV-5500 isn't going to
work for me. I am about 25-32 miles from my local stations'
transmitters, and have a lot of trees causing multipath issues. So my
signal is not great. My Olevia 232v television gets all of the
stations I want to watch without fail (well, weather permitting), but
the 5500's playback has video and audio glitches. The mythfrontend log
shows repeated frame errors and bad audio blocks. The system CPU is an
Athlon64 X2 4000+ so I know it can decode the stream.

My question is this. Does anyone know how much better, or worse, the
reception might be with the WinTV-HVR-1800? It sounds like the digital
tuner chip is at least one generation old, but I don't know if it is
newer than the one used by the 5500.
