I found a great way the other day if people are interested:

1. Enable the mythweb so you can browse your backend thru the web, for 
example
	http://htpc.domain

2. Just run a script daily/weekly or on a remote control button press to do
	wget -q http://htpc.domain/video/scan

that will update the database for you. I normally combine that with the 
script posted earlier in this list to update the coverfiles so i get a 
default coverfile for all videos even if i don't update the imdb entry.
