You probably have the box checked to make mythwelcome automatically
start mythfrontend when it (mythwelcome) starts. IIRC, it is in one of
the two configuration dialogs accessible from the mythwelcome screen.
One is accessed with the "i" key, the other with the F11 key.
If this is your problem, you should end up in mythwelcome if you exit
from mythfrontend.
