Are the recordings from dvd or analogue ?

The reason I ask it I tried to do all this on dvb recordings using vlc
server, but vlc server wont play ball with dvb mythtv recordings as no
audio is streamed...only video.

>From what I could track down, mythtv does not store the dvb mgp files in
the 'right' format, and as such vlc server has issues, as shown by the
following file output which is not recognised as dvb TS

file /var/lib/mythtv/1009_20071017193000.mpg
/var/lib/mythtv/1009_20071017193000.mpg: TeX font metric data

so this stopped streaming for my via any solution, as most solutions use
vlc server.

vlc client works fine.
analogue should also be ok with vlc server but I haven't tried it

thought this may save you some time.
wold be great to hear back that you got dvb mpg mythtv files working ok
with vlc server, if you can.
