[mythtv-users] serial interface oddities (was no output from mode2)

alright, so in my previous post I thought I had lirc or a serial interface
misconfigured.  But now I'm completely stumped.

I'm trying to get a serial receiver to work.  Sometimes it does, and
sometimes it doesn't.  It never works on bootup, but if I unplug it from the
serial interface, and plug it back in I can get it to work (sometimes it
takes several tries).  I don't think this is a problem with the interface
itself, because if I load windows on the same box, winlirc works every time.

Does anyone know what could cause behavior like this?  It's very strange.
