[mythtv-users] Trying to add a Twinhan ATSC (D+A)

I've had myth running on 2.6.18-gentoo-r6 for several months, using a
Hauppauge PVR-250, and I'm really pleased with it.
I want to add a new card, and I thought I'd purchased one which would work out
of the box, but I'm a little dismayed.
The new PCI card is a Twinhan ATSC (D+A), aka TwinhanDTV, and it seems to be
recognized on boot, but myth ignores it. In fact there are no devices
created (/dev/v4l..., /dev/video..., etc) during boot. Yet no errors are
reported.
dmesg | grep bttv yields:
bttv: driver version 0.9.16 loaded
bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture
bttv: Bt8xx card found (0).
bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 0000:00:09.0, irq: 18, latency: 32, mmio: 0xe2001000
bttv0: detected: Twinhan VisionPlus DVB [card=113], PCI subsystem ID is
1822:0001
bttv0: using: Twinhan DST + clones [card=113,autodetected]
bttv0: gpio: en=00000000, out=00000000 in=00f100ff [init]
bttv0: using tuner=4
bttv0: add subdevice "dvb0"
Despite the "add subdevice ..." message, there is no dvb* device created
in /dev. Instead I get an empty file created at
/dev/.udev/failed/devices at pci0000:00 at 0000:00:09.0 at dvb0
This file disappears when I
rmmod bttv
I find here (http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Bttv) that "using tuner=4"
apparently means "type=4 NoTuner" so I'm at a complete loss.
google tells me lots, but none of it tells me what to do.
I'm a linux novice, although I've been running FreeBSD from 3.4 through to
7.0. So I'm not a real dummy, I just sound like it :)
If anyone can point me in the right direction with this card, I'd appreciate
it.
Thanks,
lane
