first the picture will not be stretched unless you want it to be.  Myth will
put black bars on the sides to keep the 4:3 aspect by default.

As far as which monitor first understand that SDTV wont look perfect on
either but will pry look better on the lower resolution LCD TV.  Remember
that the best monitor for whatever source is a monitor that is the same
resolution as the source.  To get both of best worlds you could get a old
CRT TV and connect it via S-video and a LCD monitor for  gaming. Then
configure dual screens.  I did this for a while as i had a combo system.
