Okay I think I can handle this one... I've got both MCE receivers -
USB and direct-to-card...

And I've got a Radio Shack 15-2146 remote - it's the one with the speaker...

IMHO, you're going about it the wrong way - instead of teaching the
remote to be like the MCE remote, teach the receiver (via LIRC) to
understand the Radio Shack remote. This way, you'll have a saved
config that you can backup. Since you would have had to teach the
LIRC how to understand the MCE remote, you can have a separate config
for the RS remote instead...
