Alright Matt. I went ahead and double checked the installation of all of
those files and they are all installed for the current kernel. BTW here's
the error's were getting in the frontend log:

Then we get one frame of video:
2007-03-07 22:29:22.241 PLAYBA   4610 avformatdecoder.cpp:1024
HandleGopStart: positionMap[0] == 38.

and then black:
2007-03-07 22:29:22.341 PLAYBA   4610 NuppelVideoPlayer.cpp:1743
OutputVideoLoop: prebuffer wait timed out..
2007-03-07 22:29:22.343 DEBUG    4610 RingBuffer.cpp:892

won't get any video.

Then we have to kill the frontend. The backend log has this in it:
2007-03-07 22:29:16.019 GENERA   2695 mainserver.cpp:602
HandleAnnounce: Playback

                               Bad address (14)

And I'm not really sure what's up with this one:
2007-03-07 22:32:02.551 IMPORT   2695 RingBuffer.cpp:184         Write:
IOBOUND - blocking in ThreadedFileWriter::Write()

IOBOUND - blocking in ThreadedFileWriter::Write()

All users have rw access to the device, and the file
/video/ringbuffers/ringbuf1.nuv

We're stuck at this one... And since we can't update to the .20 myth I'm
not sure what to do next.
