[mythtv-users] Can't get a stable xorg.conf file

Thank you for pointing this out.  I don't yet have a clue about how  
to read this file.  I think you were answering my one question:

As you suggested, I'll go back and work with an old xorg.conf file  
that I built that specified resolution.  However, before I start  
another month's worth of tinkering, can you or someone answer my  
questions below?  It would take some of the guess work out of my  
tinkering.

Please see the original email for the background, but the original  
questions are:
* Would working with the Samsung monitor provide me any better  
environment while trying to build this thing?
* Should I expect to use 'nvidia', 'nvidia-1.0-9746', 'nv', or  
something else?
* Is going to System->Administration->Soundcard Detection and hearing  
the cords an acceptable way to determine if my sound card is working?  
If not, then how should I check for sound card initialization?
