You're confusing bittorrent, the technology, which is simply a file
transfer technology no different from http, ftp and others, with the
fact that because it is best at doing large files, it is the tool of
choice for some people who violate copyrights.   And I guess sometimes
Isaac confuses that too.   

Bittorrent itself has no legal problems.  The company that owns
it (which I am associated with) has large contracts with all the major
studios, and sells their movies.

However, that said, NNTP is actually a better technology for this sort
of thing.  The files are not particularly large by today's scales.
