Actually, TV networks and their advertisers are rather keen to get
this information. The default assumption by advertisers right now is
that all PVR users skip all commercials, which isn't really true.
Neilson has, for the first time, started collecting this data
recently. It was pretty big news in the industry.
Some advertisers also really want to know how much viewing is being
time-shifted. A car dealer might not care if their ad gets watched
four days after it ran, but someone advertising a concert happening
the next night will.
