You make some good points, but the main rule of just about anything is
"know your audience". Starting such a forum cold, without consulting the
possible users thereof, just seems odd to me.
Not having any sort of email contact in the whois database, even a
proxied one, is something I'd never run into, though it might be common.
I understand that the whois data is used by a lot of spammers, but there
still should be *some* way to contact the domain admins, other than a
telephone number.
But then again MythTV users tend to be an "odd" bunch anyway :-)
