Mark,

I have the same box as you.
I'm not using S/PDIF output for audio, but I did have some issues with
an older kernel version, ALSA, and sound.

I'm currently running Ubuntu 7.04 with no sound issues.
I didn't use Asus' nvidia drivers, just Ubuntu's restricted modules.

Linux 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Wed May 23 00:30:47 UTC 2007 x86_64

 Chip: Realtek ALC861
 IEC958 - mute / unmute option.

Subject: [mythtv-users] Asus P1-AH2 audio issues

Hello,

Last week i ordered a Asus P1-AH2 to get my own media center finally.

I have installed mythtv and all, but i have one problem regarding audio.
It seems that the S/PDIF output is not recognized in anyway, and i have
major issues compiling the (by Asus) recommended drivers.

Though i realize this a mailing list for MythTV, but my guess is that
some of you may have walked this path and can help me starting this up.

The error i keep on getting is:

---
 ERROR: Kernel configuration is invalid.
include/linux/autoconf.h or include/config/auto.conf are missing.
Run 'make oldconfig && make prepare' on kernel src to fix it

Ofcourse i installed all the neccessary packages, and am using the most
recent driver: NFORCE-Linux-x86_64-1.0-0310-pkg1.run

Here are some specs:

Debian: Lenny (testing)
Asus P1-AH2
00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio
(rev a2) Linux mediacenter 2.6.18-4-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Mar 26 11:36:53
CEST 2007
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Attached you will find the complete nvidia-nforce-installer.log

Any help is greatly appriciated!
