[mythtv-users] changing ffmpeg backend in myth archive?

My HTPC is just enough in terms of resources to handle a backend and a
frontend. When it comes to mytharchive and ffmpeg, it really dogs. My
Windows based PC, always on and available for my desktop, gaming, etc,
is quite high end.

I see that ffmpeg seems to be the most resource intensive part of a
typical myth archive use, and I'd like to offload that to my high end
windows box. I don't know of any firm reason why this wouldn't be
possible. All I need (I think) is to know where ffmpeg is called, so I
can substitute that w/ an ssh to my windows box. I will also need to
know the filesystem context which is expected so that I can make the
appropriate mounts as well. Anyone have those two answers? Or is there
something else I'm missing that would absolutely prevent this from being
possible?
thx-

    Jeremy
